Bevo Mill
A landmark windmill anchoring Little Bosnia
In the 1990s, St. Louis was one of the cities that the government chose to place refugees of the Bosnian War. Bevo Mill in particular was one of the main areas where they settled, and there are many Balkan restaurants, delis, and butchers along the main strip on Gravois as a result.
The Bosnians who came to St. Louis helped shape the neighborhood into what it is today, and Bevo Mill remains one of the largest Bosnian communities in the United States.
