St. Louing

La Tejana Taqueria

A hyped taqueria that fell flat for me

One of the first types of cuisine I was on the lookout for when I arrived in St. Louis was authentic Mexican food. I saw La Tejana come up frequently in recommendations. It’s located in one of the few of St. Louis that has a concentration of Hispanic folks, so it seemed promising.

Unfortunately, my experience did not live up to expectations. When I visited, I ordered steak tacos (always the default to check out a new spot), but I received something that looked like cabeza, which wasn’t hot and didn’t taste good. There was no one else in the restaurant except one person on the Casino machines and it was silent aside from the dings from the machine, which just led to the vibes feeling off.

It’s entirely possibly I just visited at a very strange time and had a particularly bad experience that is not the norm, but I personally did not have a good experience during my visit.
